Press Release: EEX launches "InsightCommodity" Market Platform for Data Products

On 3 February 2020, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) launched the “InsightCommodity” platform giving users the possibility to establish a comprehensive overview of available data products, services and providers around the energy and commodity markets of EEX Group.

Dr Marcus Mittendorf, EEX Director Market Data Services, explains: “With InsightCommodity, we are responding to the increased demand for individual data products and, in particular, forecasts and analytical evaluations. As a neutral exchange trading platform, we restrict our own offering to the provision of data and technology – however, we do not provide any recommendations which might be understood as forming the basis for trading decisions. Instead, there are a number of providers on the markets that do this on a sound and very professional basis. InsightCommodity, on the other hand, brings together these providers’ offerings and, as a result, makes it easier for our trading participants, as well as institutions and energy-intense companies to select the appropriate data product.”

The new online market platform comprises numerous service offers for analytic solutions, processed raw data, the latest market news, consultancy services regarding trading and risk management as well as the procurement of power and natural gas both on and off the exchange. Moreover, the platform enables the users to access sample data or to request trial access and to directly contact the experts. In addition, using various criteria, such as commodity, format and technical availability, end users can also filter the listed products and services based on their own needs. The platform was developed together with seven data vendors and is open for further suitable service providers around EEX Group.
