The European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) has successfully completed the acquisition of the shares in Grexel Systems Oy. The completion follows the satisfaction of all closing conditions of the transaction. As of 1st February 2019, EEX now holds 100% of the shares in the company.
Grexel Systems is the leading provider of energy certificate registries in Europe. The company currently operates 15 energy certificate registries in Europe.
With this transaction, EEX Group is expanding its activities in the registry business and will be able to actively develop the markets for guarantees of origin for renewable and other forms of energy. As part of EEX Group, Powernext already operates register solutions for guarantees of origin and other certificates in France.
